Municipal administration

Mtre. Karine Duhamel

General Manager

Appointed by the municipal council, the General Manager is responsible for managing the town’s affairs. The General Manager has authority over all municipal employees and is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and controlling all town activities.

In addition to serving as the link between the Council, the Administration Committee and the municipal employees, the General Manager prepares the budget, studies new by-laws and examines complaints from citizens.

Director of Public Works

The Director of Public Works coordinates all public works projects in the Town of Stanstead.

Fire Chief

The Fire Chief coordinates all actions relating to fires and any other emergencies to which the firemen are called.

Town Clerk

The Town Clerk is the custodian of the books, registers, plans, maps, archives and other documents and papers, which are either the property of the municipality of Stanstead or are produced, filed or preserved in its office. The Town Clerk attends Town Council meetings and draws up the minutes of the town council’s acts and proceedings. The Town Clerk is also in charge of processing access to information requests for the Town of Stanstead.

Treasurer

The Treasurer assures the collection of public monies and accounting. This public official is also responsible for drawing up the financial report at the end of each financial year, and must attest to its veracity.

Environment and Planning Officer

The Environment and Planning Officer is responsible for studying zoning and construction requests, preparing permits and certificates of authorization, performing inspections and assuring compliance to bylaws. The inspector’s particular field of expertise is zoning and construction by-laws.

Marise Trépanier

Recreation Coordinator

The Recreation Coordinator oversees the organization and smooth running of the recreation activities to which she is assigned, works towards the development of new projects and collaborates with various agencies for activities of all kinds, such as festivals, community days, etc.

Cynthia Lacroix

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant welcome citizens and visitors who call or visit Stanstead’s Town Hall as well as redirecting them to the right people and appropriate resources. She also acts as administrative support for the other office workers.
